About Me

I have three kids, all born in a pool in my living room!

My twin girls were born at 39 weeks gestation (weighing just over 6lbs each), and then my son was born at 41 weeks (nearly 9lbs!).

I know what back labor and the ring of fire feel like. I’ve fought mastitis four times naturally (and then I was determined to never get it again!). I’ve exclusively nursed, combo fed nursing+pumping, and exclusively pumped. I’ve taken my own control of when I want to get pregnant versus when I don’t without the use of hormonal or synthetic birth control. And I'm bilingual, I speak English and Spanish!

I'm passionate about everything babies! How to make them, how to birth them, and how to teach them as they develop and grow. I'm also passionate about being a mom. I love when women join the "mom club". There's nothing quite like it, and I'm obsessed with everything pertaining to it!

A natural birth for me personally means physiological. How nature would do it without people getting in the way. It's mom letting things happen when they're ready. Support people supporting and loving mom through the process. It's a calm environment with baby welcomed by people who love them. It's a restful immediate postpartum experience where anything non emergent is put off until mom & baby are ready. It's 40+ days of bonding and breastfeeding your new baby and a "village" helping and supporting mom postpartum.

I picture it in a little hut in the middle of the mountains, haha.

To me "natural birth" means how nature intended it to be. No interventions and no medications. Use of herbs if you want to and encouraging a loving and safe atmosphere for both mom and her baby.

(I also appreciate that we have doctors for emergencies.)

Birth in itself isn't an emergency to me :)
